APPG elects new officers
The APPG for Road Freight and Logistics is delighted to announce the election of its new Vice-Chairs. Following the Group’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the 18th May 2022, the APPG officers will be:
Chair - Greg Smith MP - Conservative MP for Buckingham and Member of the Transport Select Committee
Vice Chair - David Mundell MP -Former Secretary of State for Scotland and Conservative MP for Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale & Tweeddale
Vice Chair - Grahame Morris MP - Labour MP for Easington and Member of the Transport Select Committee
Vice Chair - Gavin Newlands MP - SNP Spokesman for Transport, MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North and Member of the Transport Select Committee
Vice Chair- Sir John Hayes MP, Former Transport Minister and Conservative MP for South Holland and The Deepings
Vice Chair - Baroness Randerson, Former Wales Office Minister and Liberal Democrat Member of the House of Lords
During the AGM, Greg Smith MP provided an update on the APPG’s current inquiry on Fuel Duty, following two oral evidence sessions which had taken place on the 16th and 17th of May. Greg outlined that the first session had a UK focus with witnesses from the RHA, Logistics UK and two independent hauliers. The second session focused on the international situation, with panellists from the IRHA and the IRU.
The Chair and Vice-Chairs also discussed other key issues impacting the sector currently such as lack of roadside facilities and the need to meet net zero targets.
