Report Launch 25.11.25: Delivering Inclusion: Strengthening Diversity in UK Freight and Logistics
The APPG on Freight and Logistics today launched a new report on diversity in logistics called Delivering Inclusion: Strengthening Diversity in UK Freight and Logistics.
The report was written from evidence collated by the APPG during a meeting of the APPG held on 24th June 2025 and through written submissions throughout the period of 24th June to the 24th July 2025. It sheds a light on the diverse experience of logistics workers from trade associations, unions, initiatives, multinational businesses, and SMEs, and offers practical solutions for enacting greater inclusion and representation in the sector.
It highlights how false perceptions, particularly surrounding gender, are holding back the sector’s recruitment potential and discouraging people from wishing to work in logistics. It explores other barriers to entry, including facilities, working patterns, culture and training and skills.
Significant progress has been made in the last few decades, but there is still work to be done particularly in areas of facilities, training opportunities and culture change. This report is a step in the right direction, and allows us to see where progress has genuinely been made so far, while examining in detail the areas that still demand sustained attention and further intervention, particularly from the Government.
Rachel Taylor MP, Chari of the APPG for Freight and Logistics, said:
“Diversity and inclusion is good for business, and the freight and logistics sector is beginning to recognise the value of opening their doors to women, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ people, those with disabilities, veterans, and people returning to work or changing careers. Our report demonstrates how greater inclusion can help the industry tackle some of its greatest challenges, and shows the practical steps both government and industry should take to build a more diverse, inclusive, and thriving workforce.”
